ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

 

Yuliya Ugay Brown is an award-winning singer and pianist whose musical interests span from traditional jazz to contemporary postmodernism. Since the age of thirteen, she has regularly appeared with the best jazz groups and venues in Uzbekistan and was later hired as a full-time vocalist for the State Big Band. She studied at the State Special Music Academic Lyceum and State Conservatory of Uzbekistan with full tuition scholarship in Piano Performance. A participant in numerous jazz festivals throughout Central Asia and Russia, she also became a prize winner at several vocal and piano competitions, on both the national and international level. In 2012, she moved to Georgia (USA), to obtain her Master of Music degree with full tuition scholarship at Columbus State University. In 2020 Yuliya received her second Master Degree at University of Mobile majoring in Piano Performance. During the years of her studies at UM she also worked as an Adjunct Faculty of Piano, Collaborative Piano and Voice classes. Teaching students in her private studio Brown prepares young musicians for successful college auditions. As of today, Yuliya Brown is Doctorate Candidate of Musical Arts at University of Mobile, working on her last step – dissertation, and a Director of Piano and Vocal Studies at new charter school in Mobile, Floretta P. Carson Visual Performing Arts Academy.

Steinway Piano Gallery of Spanish Fort is independently owned by Chris and Christy Myers. Christy grew up on the Eastern Shore and has always had an interest in supporting and serving her music community and she is currently the President of Baldwin County Music Teachers Association. She has been in the piano business for over 19 years and has been a partner with Steinway and Sons for 13 years. Her husband Chris joined her when Steinway and Sons asked for their representation. Over the years, Steinway Piano Gallery of Spanish Fort has been awarded two Dealer Excellence Award from Steinway & Sons, makers of the finest pianos in the world. The Dealer Excellence Award recognizes the top Steinway dealers from among 65+ showrooms across North America. Nomination and selection are based on dealer performance in categories including sales, customer service, technical service, and more.  In addition to their showroom and recital space, their academy of music offers piano, violin, guitar, and voice lessons to over 100 students in the area. Chris is a graduate of the World’s most prestigious piano technology program at Boston’s North Bennet Street School where he learned the standards of piano service and maintenance. Together, Chris and Christy provide the greatest level of sales and service to ensure the utmost customer satisfaction of families, churches, schools and universities.

Dr. Krista Williams is a Guest Lecturer at Boston University and an Adjunct Professor at Coastal Alabama and Bishop State Community Colleges. A distinguished classical pianist, she has performed with orchestras such as the New Orleans Philharmonic and Mobile Symphony, and has won numerous competitions, including the New Orleans Concerto Competition and MMTA Sonata Competition. Williams has given over 100 recitals and concerts nationwide, specializing in solo piano under the mentorship of Floretta P. Carson.

Dr. Williams earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University and holds additional degrees in Music Education and Educational Leadership from the University of South Alabama. A 2023 and 2024 Grammy-Nominated Music Educator and 2021 Boston University SOM Award recipient, she is recognized for her dedication to inclusion and equity in arts education. She has presented research and workshops at prestigious conferences worldwide, including ISSME in Oslo and MESI in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Magdalena Sage is a vibrant and versatile figure in the arts. As a singer, music director, theatre director, and educator, she excels in inspiring young talents to achieve captivating performances and find their true voice on stage. Sage holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Mobile, a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from the Music Conservatory in Katowice, Poland, and a Bachelor of Science from A. Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. Additionally, she has degrees in Special Needs Education and Speech and Language Pathology. Her current research centers on neuro-divergent performers.

Sage has an extensive career, collaborating with various theatres and music groups, and participating in numerous concerts and festivals. Her repertoire covers a broad spectrum, from Baroque to contemporary music, including musical theatre and commercial music. She is known for her expertise in teaching stylistic applications across opera, musical theatre, pop, and rock singing. Sage was a finalist in the International Vocal Competition in the Czech Republic and won first place in the State Competition in Poland. Notable performances include the Polish premiere of The Beggar's Opera at the G. G. Gorczycki International Festival of Ancient Music, a United Kingdom Tour, roles such as Gertrude in Roméo et Juliette, Mother in The ConsulCabaret Mask-off, and directing The Play That Goes Wrong.

Beyond her performances, Sage maintains an active voice studio and directs two choirs, a Symphonic Band, a Garage Band, and a Theatre Troupe. She also teaches music theory, music history, and algebra at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science, where she is Chair of the Fine Arts Department. Sage continues to be an active performer, seamlessly blending her passions for education and the arts.
